Bruno Fernandes Sweeps Player Awards After Record-Breaking Season

Bruno Fernandes has capped off an outstanding 2025/26 season by securing a hat-trick of prestigious individual awards. The Manchester United captain was named the Players' Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA), adding to accolades from journalists and the league itself.

Fernandes's record-breaking season saw him register 21 assists, surpassing the previous Premier League record of 20 held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. He achieved this milestone with a crucial pass in the final match of the season against Brighton.

His stellar performances earned him recognition from his peers, journalists, and the league. Fernandes expressed deep gratitude for the PFA award, stating, "To have received the votes of players who play against me every week means a lot to me. They were on the field, they saw what I am capable of, so I am very grateful for their votes."

Fernandes is the first Manchester United player since Wayne Rooney in 2010 to win the PFA Players' Player of the Year award. He was also the sole representative from Manchester United in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, an eleven dominated by players from Arsenal and Manchester City. The team included players like David Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel, Erling Haaland, and Nico O'Reilly, who also won the Young Player of the Year award.
