Brussels Airlines flight returns to Accra minutes after take-off over technical fault

A Brussels Airlines flight bound for Lomé, Togo, was compelled to return to Accra, Ghana, just minutes after its departure on Monday evening due to a technical issue. The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed the incident, stating that Flight SN278 experienced a problem while airborne.

As a precautionary measure, the flight crew made the decision to return to Accra. The aircraft landed safely at Accra International Airport at 6:18 pm, approximately 12 minutes after its initial takeoff at 6:06 pm. The GCAA praised the flight crew for their adherence to established safety protocols, emphasizing that passenger and crew safety remains the paramount concern.

Brussels Airlines subsequently canceled Flight SN278 following the incident. The airline is providing necessary assistance to the affected passengers in accordance with consumer protection directives. The technical problem is currently under investigation by Brussels Airlines, with oversight from the GCAA, to ensure all safety procedures are followed.
