BTS Jimin's World Cup shirt fetches $110,000 at charity auction

A shirt worn by BTS member Jimin during the halftime performance of the 2026 World Cup final fetched a top bid of $110,000 (approximately 159 million won) at a Christie's online auction. The auction, titled "One Giant Leap: For a FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund," concluded after running for a week, exceeding expectations by raising a total of $652,630 (about 943.7 million won).

According to a Christie's press release, bidders from 24 countries participated in the online auction. Merchandise worn by BTS members during their "Dynamite" performance at halftime collectively sold for $300,300 (around 443.4 million won), representing 46% of the auction's total proceeds. Other BTS items included a scarf worn by V ($46,200), a jacket worn by Jungkook ($46,200), pants worn by Suga ($33,000), gloves worn by J-Hope ($28,600), boots worn by RM ($19,800), and a belt worn by Jin ($16,500).

Other notable items sold included a soccer ball used in the final, which also sold for $110,000, matching Jimin's shirt price. Additionally, Lionel Messi's signed 2026 Argentina home jersey, gifted to Shakira, sold for $66,000. Madonna's signed fingerless goalkeeper gloves from her opening performance went for $41,800, and a pair of "Skylrk" sneakers worn by Justin Bieber during an acoustic performance sold for $26,400.

The funds raised from the auction are designated for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. This initiative aims to provide quality education and expand access to football opportunities for children in underserved communities worldwide.
