BTS Jimin's World Cup shirt sells for $110,000 at charity auction

A shirt worn by BTS member Jimin during the halftime show of the 2026 World Cup final has fetched a remarkable $110,000 (approximately 159 million won) at a charity auction. The item was part of "One Goal: FIFA for Children," an online charity auction organized by Christie's that concluded after seven days, drawing significant global interest.

The auction surpassed expectations, raising a total of $652,630 (about 943 million won). Bidders from 24 countries participated, demonstrating the widespread appeal of the cause and the items offered. Notably, seven items worn by the BTS members during their "Dynamite" performance at the halftime show collectively sold for $300,300 (around 434 million won), making up nearly 46% of the total proceeds.

Beyond Jimin's shirt, other BTS memorabilia also commanded high prices. V's scarf sold for $46,200, Jungkook's jacket for $46,200, Suga's pants for $33,000, J-Hope's gloves for $28,600, RM's boots for $19,800, and Jin's belt for $16,500. All these items were sold at considerable prices, reflecting the immense popularity of the K-pop group.

Other significant items at the auction included a match-worn soccer ball from the final, which also sold for $110,000. An autographed Argentina jersey gifted by Lionel Messi to Shakira went for $66,000, while Madonna's signed fingerless goalkeeper gloves from the opening ceremony sold for $41,800. Justin Bieber's "Skylrk" sneakers, worn during his acoustic performance of "Hallelujah," were purchased for $26,400.

All proceeds from this charity auction are dedicated to the FIFA Global Children's Education Fund. This initiative aims to provide quality education and increase access to football participation for children in underserved communities worldwide.
