Bucharest's Sector 1 City Hall Courtyard Becomes June 1 Playground; Full Activity Schedule Released

The courtyard of Sector 1's City Hall in Bucharest is undergoing a transformation into a vibrant playground for International Children's Day. Preparations are underway, with chalk drawings of hopscotch, the alphabet, and mazes appearing on the asphalt. Starting May 30, this space, typically used for institutional activities, will become a public area for children and parents after 5:00 PM.

This initiative is part of a larger "Sector 1 Animated" program running from May 30 to June 1, featuring free events for children and families across seven locations. These include Cantonul Băneasa, Strada Copilului, Dorobanți area, Bazilescu Park, Amzei and Matache markets, and the City Hall itself. The events, held daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, promise a variety of activities such as sports, educational workshops, performances, and outdoor games.

From now on, after 5:00 PM, the entire place will change its role and the courtyard will become a space for children and parents.

Strada Copilului will be pedestrianized from May 30 to June 1, hosting events under the slogan "Open streets. Happy kids." This area will feature conferences with education and psychology specialists, sports demonstrations by FC Rapid, and activities like volleyball, basketball, chess, and scrabble. Additionally, workshops on pottery and contemporary art are planned. At Canton Băneasa, attendees can enjoy 3x3 basketball, volleyball, mini-football, trampolines, badminton, ping-pong, and archery, with participation from the Romanian Scrabble and Cycling Federations.
