Romania’s The Voice Returns to PRO TV with a Comedian Among the Contestants

The Voice of Romania returns to PRO TV and VOYO on Friday, September 4, at 8:30 p.m., bringing new singers, surprises and revised rules for its 14th season.

Among the contestants is Ioana State, known mainly for her stand-up comedy. She will appear on the blind-audition stage in a different role from the one familiar to her fans. Promotional footage shows her turning two coaches’ chairs, although the song she will perform and the coach she may join remain unknown.

Tudor Chirilă, Smiley, Irina Rimes, Theo Rose and Horia Brenciu return as coaches. Other contestants announced for the opening episode include Iulia, who plans to bring her grandmother’s scarf as a sentimental object; Andrew, an artist, songwriter and producer; and Mihai Teacă, who performs jazz, pop, blues, funk and lăutărească music.

George Synzheriak, an artist from abroad, will also take the stage. Dafina Busu, a member of a band who writes her own songs, will compete as well. Alessia Anghel is returning to televised competition after appearing on X Factor last year.

The new season adds a Second Chance button alongside the existing Mute and Block buttons. A coach can use it after a performance to reverse a decision and bring back a singer they wanted for their team. Host Pavel Bartoș will also receive a one-time advantage during the blind auditions, allowing him to give a contestant who failed to turn any chair another opportunity.
