Budimir’s penalty gives Osasuna a strong start

Ante Budimir’s penalty settled an even match in Pamplona and sent Osasuna into the European places after a solid opening to the LaLiga season.

Neither side controlled the first 40 minutes. The turning point came after a VAR review, when the referee awarded Osasuna a penalty for Djené’s pull on Budimir during a corner. The Croatian forward sent David Soria the wrong way to make it 1-0.

Getafe pushed forward after the break and briefly appeared to equalize when Enes Ünal finished a move started by Andrés García. The goal did not stand because Ünal was offside.

The visitors came closest later through Terrats, whose left-footed shot from a cross was cleared off the line by Sergio Herrera. Osasuna also threatened through Barja and Dubasin, but neither team created many clear chances.

Getafe pressed hard in the closing minutes and forced Osasuna into a deeper defensive shape. The hosts looked for a counterattack but could not add to the score. The result left Osasuna with seven points and only one goal conceded, while Getafe remained on one win and two defeats. The match also saw Soria set a Primera División record with 193 consecutive starts.
