Buenos Aires museum adds photographs by Peruvian photographer Mario Testino

The Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires, known as MALBA, has added two photographs by Peruvian photographer Mario Testino to its collection.

One photograph, made in New York in 2007 for Vanity Fair, features Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen. The other, taken in Rome that year for Vogue, shows British-American model and actress Sienna Miller. Testino donated both works to the museum.

Born in Lima in 1954 and based in London since 1976, Testino built an international career through magazines including Vogue and Vanity Fair. He has also created campaigns for fashion brands such as Gucci, Versace, Chanel and Dior.

MALBA hosted the first major exhibition of Testino's work in Argentina in 2014. “Mario Testino: In Your Face” brought together 122 photographs.

The museum also announced the addition of “East of Paradise,” a 1995 lithograph by Dominican artist Jorge Pineda, who was a key figure in the renewal of visual arts in his country during the 1990s. Other new works include “Abstraction with Material” by Juan Del Prete and “Sinister Knowledge No. 4: The Being” by Líbero Badíi. MALBA also received three works by Argentine artist Margarita Paksa through a donation.
