Data released by Tmap Mobility reveals that Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju was the most frequently visited temple by its users last year, solidifying its status as a premier destination for spiritual and cultural exploration. The navigation service provider's analysis, based on user data, placed Yangyang's Naksansa and Yangsan's Tongdosa as the second and third most popular temple destinations, respectively.

This trend indicates a growing interest in visiting temples, with Tmap Mobility reporting a significant 26.9% increase in temple destination settings compared to the previous year. Over the past three years, the number of users setting temples as their destination has surged by an impressive 55.9%, underscoring a rising engagement with Buddhist culture and heritage.

Furthermore, the recent Seoul International Buddhism Expo held at COEX saw a notable 4.1% rise in destination settings for the venue during the event week, and a substantial 77% increase the week following the expo compared to the week prior. A Tmap Mobility representative commented that the steady increase in temple visits reflects how Buddhist culture is permeating daily life beyond religious boundaries, suggesting a broader societal embrace of its values and aesthetics.
