Bulog Says Rice Distribution in Kalimantan Will Continue Despite Smoke Haze

Perum Bulog says rice distribution across Kalimantan will continue despite smoke from forest and land fires, although field operations will follow local government safety guidance.

Bulog president director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said the company was maintaining its public service programs while adapting to changing conditions. In Sampit, some services were temporarily suspended because visibility had become too limited for distribution workers to operate safely.

The interruptions are temporary, Bulog said. Teams are monitoring weather and visibility and will resume service when conditions allow safe deliveries. The company has also coordinated with provincial governments in West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.

That coordination will help assess requests for disaster assistance and direct government food reserves to affected communities through local authorities. Regional governments may submit requests for support, and Bulog said it is prepared to assist people affected by the haze in Kalimantan as well as earthquake-affected areas in East Nusa Tenggara.

National government rice reserves managed by Bulog stood at 4.9 million tons as of Sept. 1, 2026. Rizal did not give a separate figure for Kalimantan. He said Bulog’s warehouses across the region remained safe because they were located away from forest areas, while the company continued protecting the quality and availability of its rice stocks.
