Burglar falls three stories escaping police in Val-de-Marne

A man attempting to flee police in Saint-Mandé, Val-de-Marne, suffered critical injuries after falling three stories from an apartment window. The incident occurred shortly before noon on Friday when officers responded to reports of suspicious noises at a third-floor residence.

As police approached the apartment door, the suspect reportedly attempted to escape through a window, leading to his fall from a height of approximately ten meters. He sustained severe head and groin injuries and was transported to Henri Mondor hospital in critical condition. The public prosecutor's office in Créteil confirmed that his life is no longer in danger.

According to initial reports, the man had scaled the building's facade and broken into the empty apartment. He was allegedly attempting to force open a safe with a grinder when the police arrived. The judicial police investigator from the Vincennes police station was informed and visited the scene.

The suspect was initially taken into custody but his detention was suspended due to his hospitalization. The investigation into the attempted burglary is ongoing. The incident highlights the risks individuals take when attempting to evade law enforcement.
