Toulouse: Two charged with attempted murder over drug-related shooting of minors

Toulouse authorities have charged two men, aged 18 and 24, with attempted murder in connection with a violent shooting that left two minors seriously injured. The incident, which occurred earlier this week in the western part of the city, is believed to be linked to drug trafficking activities.

The two suspects were arrested late Monday night following a high-speed chase with police. The chase ensued after a firearm exchange in an area known for illicit drug operations. During the pursuit, officers discovered an AK47 assault rifle, consistent with shell casings found at the scene, along with a handgun and two bulletproof vests inside the suspects' stolen vehicle.

One of the victims, a minor whose exact age is still unconfirmed, sustained a severe groin injury and was in critical condition as of Friday. The second victim, a 16-year-old, was shot in the abdomen and lower back but has since been released from the hospital. The 18-year-old suspect has no prior criminal record, while the older suspect, from the Landes region, claimed he was recruited via Instagram.

Both individuals face multiple charges, including attempted murder as part of an organized crime group, participation in a criminal association, illegal possession and transport of restricted firearms, receiving a stolen vehicle, and resisting arrest. They have been placed in pre-trial detention.
