Bus crashes into home in Peru, injuring 51

A bus veered off the road and slammed into a home in the Camaná province of Peru's Arequipa region early Saturday, injuring 51 people. The interprovincial bus, operated by Juanes, was traveling from Arequipa to Caravelí when the crash occurred around 12:15 a.m. in the Cerrillos sector.

Emergency services, including ambulances from multiple hospitals, police, firefighters, and civil defense, responded to the scene. The injured received immediate medical attention at Camaná Hospital. Seven individuals with severe injuries were subsequently transferred to the Honorio Delgado Espinoza Regional Hospital in Arequipa for further treatment.

Firefighters reported that the bus was lodged against the house, creating a complex rescue situation. A minor was trapped between a seat and a window but was successfully rescued. The bus driver was also trapped and required extraction by emergency teams. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and initial reports indicate a second vehicle may have been involved.
