Busan police officer suspended amid investigation into alleged sexual offenses against a minor

A police officer in Busan is facing investigation and has been suspended from duty over allegations of committing sexual offenses against a minor. The officer, a man in his 30s serving at the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, was reportedly involved in an incident where he allegedly had sexual relations with a teenage girl.

According to reports, the incident occurred on the 11th of the month. The officer allegedly met the minor in a bustling area of Busan, consumed alcohol with her, and then took her to his home, where the alleged offense took place. The woman later reported the incident to the police.

This is not the first time the officer has faced legal scrutiny for similar offenses. Three years prior, he was investigated and received significant disciplinary action for illegally filming a sleeping woman with his mobile phone camera. At that time, he was charged under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, specifically for filming with devices. He received a stay of prosecution from the prosecutor's office after reaching a settlement with the victim.

Authorities are currently in the early stages of the investigation, focusing on gathering evidence such as CCTV footage from the scene and corroborating the conflicting statements from both parties involved. The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency has placed the officer on administrative leave and plans to conduct a thorough internal affairs investigation once the criminal probe concludes.
