Seoul Para-Sports Official Accused of Embezzling 11 Million Won in Research Funds

A vice chairman of the Seoul Para-Sports Association, identified as Professor A, has been found to have embezzled over 11 million won (approximately $8,000 USD) in research project funds. The discovery was made during an audit by South Korea's Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI), which investigated public official integrity. The funds in question were provincial subsidies provided by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the para-sports association. The BAI's findings revealed Professor A's alleged misappropriation of personnel expenses for research services. In addition to this case, the audit uncovered other instances of public corruption, including bribery, illegal entertainment, and fraudulent hiring practices. The BAI has requested disciplinary measures for 15 individuals implicated in various corrupt activities and has formally reported Professor A and others with criminal charges to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
