Businessman Lord Ibrahim Sani enters 2028 presidential race as independent aspirant

Businessman Lord Ibrahim Sani has declared his intention to contest Ghana's 2028 presidential elections as an independent candidate. He unveiled a new political movement, the Rising Generation Movement (RGM), which is youth-led and aims to mobilize young people and grassroots communities across the nation.

The RGM is founded on a mission to restore trust in leadership, empower the youth, and foster a Ghana that benefits all citizens through practical policies, clean governance, and development centered on the people. During the movement's online launch, Mr. Sani emphasized that Ghana's future hinges on a new generation of leaders committed to prioritizing competence, accountability, and service over traditional partisan politics.

"The Rising Generation Movement is a call to action for young people and all Ghanaians who believe our country deserves a new direction founded on integrity, opportunity and inclusive growth," Sani stated. He observed that despite Ghana's rich talent and potential, many citizens have grown disillusioned with the current political system and are seeking leaders who deliver tangible results rather than mere promises.

Mr. Sani's decision to run independently stems from his conviction that Ghana's development should transcend partisan interests and place the needs of its citizens at the forefront of governance. The RGM plans to initiate nationwide engagements in the coming months to recruit members, formulate policy proposals, and expand its presence throughout the country in preparation for the 2028 general elections.
