Busujju Leaders Rally Communities to Preserve Cultural Values At Traditional Introduction Ceremony

Residents of Busujju County have been urged to embrace and preserve their cultural heritage, rejecting misconceptions that traditional practices are incompatible with religious beliefs. The call was made by Busujju County Chief Israel Lubega Maaso during a traditional introduction ceremony in Mityana District.

The ceremony marked the official introduction of Edward Ddungu Nyonyi Ntono, the Kabaka's representative for Sabaddu-Malangala Sub-county, to his wife, Victoria, before family, friends, and guests. Lubega Maaso highlighted the significance of cultural identity in strengthening communities and safeguarding Buganda's heritage.

Busujju County Member of Parliament David Kalwanga congratulated the couple and advised the groom on marital responsibilities, emphasizing commitment, respect, and mutual support. He also encouraged unity among Ugandans, urging them not to let political differences divide communities.

Hajji Kamoga appealed to young people to value marriage and family life, describing them as pillars of Buganda's cultural values and social stability. The ceremony featured traditional customs and performances, reinforcing messages about family values, cultural preservation, and community unity. Guests lauded the couple for celebrating their union through a traditional introduction, recognizing it as a vital way to preserve and pass on Buganda's customs.
