BYD Korea delivers first 'Sealion 6 DM-i' to GS Global

BYD Korea has officially launched its Sealion 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in South Korea, with the first unit delivered to GS Global. The handover ceremony took place on August 27th at the BYD Auto Gangseo exhibition center in Seoul.

GS Global, already a partner for BYD's commercial electric buses since 2020, will now extend its collaboration to BYD's passenger vehicles. This move signifies a deepening relationship between the two companies in the eco-friendly mobility sector.

It is meaningful to deliver the first domestic vehicle to GS Global, with whom we have cooperated in the eco-friendly mobility field for a long time.

The Sealion 6 DM-i is equipped with BYD's proprietary 'DM-i' technology. This system prioritizes electric motor-driven travel, providing efficiency comparable to pure electric vehicles. For longer journeys or situations where charging is inconvenient, the vehicle can utilize its engine, offering flexibility for drivers.

With a 18.3 kWh Blade battery, the Sealion 6 DM-i is certified to travel up to 70 km on electric power alone under Korean Ministry of Environment standards. It also supports 3.3 kW V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and 18 kW DC fast charging. BYD Korea highlights that this PHEV offers a practical solution for consumers seeking both the benefits of electric driving in urban areas and the extended range of a hybrid for longer trips, alleviating concerns about charging infrastructure.
