Calgary boy, 11, found dead in pipe after two-week search

Calgary is mourning the loss of an 11-year-old boy named Parker, who was found deceased in an underground pipe two weeks after he disappeared. Parker, who had autism and was non-verbal, went missing from a daycare home, sparking a massive search effort across the city.

Hundreds of police officers and volunteers dedicated their time to searching homes, boats, sheds, garages, and waterways in a desperate attempt to find the child. The search captured the city's attention, highlighting the community's deep concern for Parker's well-being.

On Wednesday, searchers located the boy's body in a pipe connected to a culvert under Deerfoot Trail in the city's north end. The discovery brought an end to the extensive search but left the community heartbroken.

A makeshift memorial has since been created in Laycock Park, a footbridge serving as a place for Calgarians to gather, share their grief, and remember the young boy. The memorial has grown with each flower and stuffed toy left in tribute, symbolizing the community's collective sorrow and support.
