Cali celebrates 490 years with 'Borondeando' events; road closures and diversions in place

Cali is gearing up to celebrate its 490th anniversary with a series of cultural events, notably the 'Borondeando' gatherings planned for the traditional neighborhoods of San Antonio and Granada. The city's Secretariat of Mobility is coordinating traffic management, including road closures and diversions, to ensure the safety of residents, merchants, and visitors throughout the festivities.

The first 'Borondeando' event will take place on Sunday, July 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the historic San Antonio neighborhood. During these hours, controlled closures and detours will be in effect on Calle 3 Oeste, Carrera 12, Calle 1 Oeste, and Carrera 10. Carrera 10, between Calle 1 Oeste and Calle 3 Oeste, will be dedicated to the safe execution of the planned activities.

With these special devices, we seek to ensure that caleños and visitors enjoy the 'Borondeando' events safely and in an organized manner.

A second event is scheduled for Thursday, July 30, also from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in the Granada neighborhood, known for its gastronomic offerings. For this occasion, closures will be implemented on Avenida 9 Norte between Calle 9 Norte and Calle 21 Norte. Transversal passages through Calle 10, 12, 17, 18, and 21 Norte will remain open to facilitate access for residents. Additionally, Calle 20 will be permanently closed at Avenida 8 Norte.

Luis Fernando Escobar, Cali's Undersecretary of Mobility Services, emphasized the purpose of these special measures. "With these special devices, we seek to ensure that caleños and visitors enjoy the 'Borondeando' events safely and in an organized manner," he stated. "We will have traffic agents regulating mobility in the San Antonio and Granada sectors, facilitating travel and providing permanent support throughout each event. We invite the public to plan their routes in advance and follow the recommendations of our personnel on the ground."
