Cameroon beat Malawi 3-0 to claim first WAFCON title

Cameroon clinched their maiden Women's Africa Cup of Nations title with a dominant 3-0 victory over Malawi in Sunday's final in Rabat. Marie Ngah Manga was the star of the match, scoring in the 20th minute and again in first-half stoppage time. Naomi Eto extended Cameroon's lead in the 30th minute with a spectacular volley.

Malawi, making their debut in the tournament, struggled to break down Cameroon's defense. Key players Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, who had been instrumental in Malawi's run to the final, were largely contained.

This triumph marks a significant comeback for Cameroon, who had missed the previous WAFCON and initially failed to qualify for the 2026 finals. They secured their spot through their world ranking, overcoming a previous aggregate loss to Algeria.

With this win, Cameroon becomes the fourth nation to lift the continental trophy, joining Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa. The Indomitable Lionesses will also represent Africa at the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.
