Cameroon Launches Electronic Payment for School Fees and Exams

Cameroon's Minister of Secondary Education, Pauline Nalova Lyonga, has announced the implementation of an electronic payment system for school registration and official examination fees for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year. This initiative allows parents, guardians, and students to conveniently settle required contributions and registration fees starting August 24, 2026.

The parents, guardians, and students can pay the required contributions as well as the registration fees for candidates for the 2026/2027 academic year examinations and competitions starting August 24, 2026.

The new system requires students to obtain a unique identification number (matricule) through the platform cartescolaire.cm or directly from their educational institutions. For students entering the first year of secondary education (Form one and première année), their identification numbers must be generated by their respective schools. School administrators are also mandated to complete end-of-year class councils on the cartescolaire.cm platform.

The acquisition of the student identification number on the platform cartescolaire.cm or from educational institutions is the preliminary step.

Specific procedures are in place for students transferring between schools, who must ensure their identification number is updated in the new institution before making any payments. Notably, fees for entrance exams to specific institutions like the École normale des instituteurs d’enseignement général and technical teaching colleges must be paid using the institution's code on the platform, distinct from the unique student ID used for other payments.

For students transferring from one educational institution to another, they must ensure that their identification number is registered in the new institution before proceeding with any payment.

The cartescolaire.cm platform is designed to centralize the national registry of schools and students, thereby enhancing transaction security and preventing issues caused by fraudulent individuals. To further alleviate congestion at school administrative offices, electronic payments can be made through various operators, including Campost, Express Union, MTN Cameroon, and Afriland First Bank. The launch of this electronic payment system marks a significant step towards modernizing educational administration and ensuring a smoother transition into the new academic year.
