Cameroon qualifies for 2027 Women's World Cup after beating Nigeria

Cameroon has secured its place in the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, becoming the latest nation to qualify after a decisive 1-0 victory over Nigeria's Super Falcons in their WAFCON 2026 quarter-final match.

The Indomitable Lionesses' win not only propelled them into the WAFCON semi-finals but also guaranteed them a coveted ticket to next year's global tournament. The Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) serves as the continental qualifier for Africa, with the four semi-finalists earning direct berths to the World Cup.

Cameroon joins Algeria and Morocco as the African nations that have so far clinched World Cup qualification. Both Algeria and Morocco secured their spots on Saturday after advancing to the WAFCON semi-finals. Brazil is set to host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, which will expand to include 32 teams.

Qualification pathways are currently being finalized across other confederations. As of now, qualified teams include host Brazil, Australia, China PR, Japan, DPR Korea, South Korea, and the Philippines from the AFC confederation. Argentina and Colombia represent CONMEBOL, while New Zealand is qualified from OFC. Denmark, France, Germany, and Spain are the European qualifiers so far. More nations are expected to join the list as their respective continental qualification campaigns conclude.
