CAND FC launches new season with promotion to V-League as its target

Công An Nhân Dân FC has opened its campaign for the 2026-27 professional season with a clear objective: win Vietnam’s national first division and secure promotion to the V-League.

The Ministry of Public Security held the launch ceremony on September 3. The event also marked the transfer of the PVF-CAND youth football club, which will become Hưng Yên FC and be based in Hưng Yên province. Both CAND and Hưng Yên will compete in the 2026-27 national first division.

CAND introduced its coaching staff and squad at the ceremony. Former player and coach Nguyễn Đức Thắng will lead the team, having previously managed Viettel and Bình Định. The squad includes goalkeeper Nguyễn Đình Triệu and players including Lê Viktor, Minh Vương, Đỗ Phi Long, Phạm Lý Đức, Phạm Minh Phúc and Thanh Nhàn.

Minister Lương Tam Quang said the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security leadership placed particular emphasis on high-performance sport, especially football. He described football as a sport that attracts and connects people while helping develop fitness, character and determination.

CAND chairman Major General Dương Đức Hải said the club would turn the minister’s directions into practical plans and work toward becoming one of Vietnam’s leading professional clubs. The first-division season begins on September 11, when CAND will host Long An at 6 p.m. The club is expected to pursue promotion to Vietnam’s top flight for the 2027-28 season.
