Candidates for Federal Deputy and Senator in São Paulo Can Participate in Folha's Electoral Match

For the upcoming 2026 elections, Folha de S.Paulo is introducing "Match Eleitoral," an innovative tool designed to simplify the decision-making process for voters selecting federal and senatorial candidates in São Paulo. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between constituents and their representatives by providing a clear, data-driven comparison of political viewpoints.

The platform operates similarly to a political "Tinder." Voters will answer a set of 22 questions covering economic, political, and behavioral topics, with an estimated response time of 15 minutes. Their answers will then be cross-referenced with the responses provided by candidates who register for the service. The tool will then highlight candidates with whom the voter shares the most alignment, facilitating a more informed choice.

Datafolha will conduct interviews to compile a comprehensive database of candidate responses. This data will power the "Match Eleitoral" tool, allowing voters to see how their views align with those of potential representatives.

"Match Eleitoral" is not entirely new; it was successfully implemented in the 2022 and 2018 general elections, as well as the 2024 São Paulo municipal elections. When the tool launches in September, voters who complete the test will also unlock the "Match Eleitoral" tab on candidate profiles on Folha's website. This section will consolidate all data declared to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) and display the candidates' answers in one place, offering a holistic view of their platforms.
