Car Flips After Collision in Suspected Sudden Lane Change

A severe traffic accident in New Taipei City resulted in one car overturning onto its roof. The incident occurred around midnight when a 43-year-old male driver, identified by the surname Cai, was traveling along Xinbei Avenue Section 5 towards Sanchong.

As Cai approached the intersection with Xinsheng Road, his vehicle, reportedly in a middle lane, allegedly made a sudden and abrupt lane change to the outer lane. This maneuver caused a collision with a car driven by a 29-year-old male, identified by the surname Yu, who was traveling in the outer lane. Yu's vehicle was unable to avoid the impact and flipped over, landing on its roof in the middle of the road.

Emergency services, including police and firefighters, quickly responded to the scene. Yu, who was trapped inside his overturned vehicle, was rescued by first responders. Fortunately, he sustained only minor abrasions to his elbow and was treated at the scene. Police cordoned off the area and managed traffic while conducting sobriety tests on both drivers.

Both Cai and Yu tested negative for alcohol and drug impairment. The exact cause of the accident and the determination of responsibility are currently under further investigation by the police. Traffic flow was restored shortly after 1 a.m. following the removal of the vehicles.
