Car plunges into Munzur River in Tunceli; two injured

A vehicle lost control and plummeted approximately 60 meters into the Munzur River near Kemerbel on the Tunceli-Ovacık highway, resulting in injuries to two occupants. The incident occurred when the driver lost steering control, sending the car tumbling through a wooded area before falling into the river.

One of the injured, identified as E.Z.S., 27, managed to jump from the vehicle during the crash and sustained injuries. The driver, H.Ö., 42, was able to exit the car on his own and reach the riverbank. Bystanders alerted authorities, prompting a swift response from emergency teams, including AFAD, firefighters, UMKE, Munzur Search and Rescue, medical personnel, and police.

With the assistance of onlookers, the injured woman received initial treatment on the opposite bank before being transported via stretcher and then by boat. Both injured individuals were subsequently taken by ambulance to Tunceli State Hospital for medical care. An investigation into the cause of the accident has been initiated.
