CASI beats Regatas with a last-minute try to extend winning streak

Atlético de San Isidro (CASI) continued their impressive run in the Top 14 of the URBA, securing a thrilling 31-27 victory against Regatas in a hard-fought match at Bella Vista. The decisive moment came in the dying seconds of the game when CASI, awarded a penalty within the 25-yard line, opted for a tactical kick. Fly-half Felipe Hileman delivered a precise thirty-meter pass to winger Pedro Repetto, who evaded a last-ditch tackle from Regatas' Juan Cruz Corso before diving over for the winning try. Juan Akemeir converted the try, sealing the seven-point score and igniting celebrations for the visiting team. CASI, currently the second-placed team behind Newman in the URBA Top 14, has now overcome a challenging opponent whom they had visited twice previously this year. The first half saw CASI establish a commanding 24-10 lead, built on solid defense, discipline, and patient, organized attacking play that resulted in three well-crafted tries. However, Regatas mounted a significant comeback in the second half. "We started a bit asleep," admitted Regatas fly-half José de la Torre, acknowledging their slow start. "In the second half, we changed things, played more territorially, took advantage of the wind, and managed to overtake them, but only for a second." Regatas had briefly taken a 27-24 lead before CASI's final surge. De la Torre, who successfully converted all his team's kicks, including three conversions and two penalties, narrowly missed a long-range drop goal that could have extended their lead. The match concluded in a frenetic exchange, with both teams attacking fiercely, but CASI ultimately found the crucial score to secure the victory.
