Celtic manager Martin O’Neill is currently hospitalized following a minor medical procedure, the Scottish club confirmed Wednesday. The 74-year-old Northern Irishman is anticipated to be released from the hospital within the next day or two.

While the club did not disclose the specifics of the procedure, they issued a statement on social media assuring supporters that O’Neill is recovering well. "We would envisage Martin being released from hospital in the next day or two and on behalf of Martin, we would like to thank supporters for their kind wishes," the statement read. The club also requested that O’Neill's and his family's privacy be respected during this time.

O’Neill returned to Celtic last October, two decades after his initial successful tenure. He took over following Brendan Rodgers' resignation and, after a brief interim period, was appointed permanent manager. He guided the team to a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double last season and was in the dugout for their 1-0 victory over Dundee in their league campaign opener on Monday.
