Centuries-old violins to resonate at Ljubljana Festival

The Ljubljana Festival is set to host two distinct chamber music concerts on consecutive evenings, July 27 and 28, highlighting a strong emphasis on the Romantic period. These performances will feature internationally acclaimed soloists performing alongside established ensembles.

On the first night, violinist Vadim Repin and pianist Peter Laul will take the stage with the festival's resident ensemble, Ensembl Dissonance. Their program will include works by Arensky, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, and Chausson, offering a rich tapestry of 19th-century Russian and French Romanticism.

The following evening will feature the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra from Hungary. Violinist Kirill Troussov will perform Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, while conductor István Várdai will also feature as a cello soloist, performing Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme. The concert will conclude with Hungarian-inspired pieces by Liszt and Brahms, adding a vibrant, dance-like character.

These concerts are part of the second half of the Ljubljana Festival, which continues to offer a diverse range of musical experiences. The events are scheduled to take place in the Unionska dvorana, providing an intimate setting for the chamber music performances.
