Cepanim Registration Reaches 65.1% Completion; Payments Due June 2026

Panama's Cepanim registration platform is progressing steadily, with over 268,000 beneficiaries now recorded. The Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that the platform has achieved 65.1% of its registration goal as of June 1, 2026. This figure includes 191,699 living beneficiaries and 77,175 individuals registering on behalf of deceased beneficiaries. The initiative aims to consolidate and verify data for the Cepanim program, which compensates for historical interest owed to public and private sector workers from 1972 to 1983. Despite the significant progress, approximately 34.9% of the target beneficiaries still need to complete their registration. The MEF has kept the platform open to accommodate these remaining individuals. Payments for these historical claims are anticipated to commence in June 2026, marking the resolution of a debt that has been outstanding for over four decades. These certificates hold real economic value, are transferable, tax-exempt, and cannot be seized.
