Cerro Porteño to open new arena with Liga Premium final

Cerro Porteño will open its new home with a final. The Arena Juan José Zapag will host its official inauguration on Friday, when the Ciclón welcomes Exa Ysaty for the second leg of the 2026 Liga Premium Futsal FIFA title match.

The game starts at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Tigo Sports, according to the Futsal FIFA division of the Paraguayan Football Association. The new blue-and-red venue can hold 4,200 spectators.

Cerro arrives with a commanding advantage after beating Exa Ysaty 7-3 in Saturday’s first leg at Sol de América’s sports hall. The margin puts the home side within reach of another championship and gives it the chance to celebrate the title during the arena’s official opening.

The club has dominated the Liga Premium since the competition began. Cerro has won all 10 absolute titles contested between 2015 and 2025, apart from 2020, when the season was not played because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sport Colonial won the Apertura in 2021, while Olimpia won the Clausura in 2022 and 2023, but both later lost the decisive matches for the absolute title.

For Exa Ysaty, the final carries historic weight. The maroon team is appearing in its first Liga Premium final and will try to overturn the deficit, while also denying Cerro a championship celebration at its new home. The occasion combines the inauguration of the Arena Juan José Zapag with a title race shaped by Cerro’s long-standing supremacy.
