Changhua County Secures Record Central Funding, But Per Capita Share Ranks Low

Changhua County is set to receive a record 57.7 billion yuan in central government funding for 2027, a substantial increase that places it at the top among areas outside Taiwan's six special municipalities. This funding includes 36.2 billion yuan in general allocated tax revenue and 21.5 billion yuan in general subsidies.

The county government highlighted this achievement, noting the total amount is more than double the 2025 allocation and represents a significant boost to the county treasury. However, the announcement was tempered by a stark reality: Changhua's per capita share of the allocated tax revenue remains among the lowest in the nation.

Based on a population of approximately 1.2 million as of July, the county's per capita general allocated tax revenue ranks 19th out of 22 cities and counties. This places it just ahead of Tainan, Taichung, and New Taipei City. While this is an improvement from previous years, where it ranked 21st, it still positions Changhua in the lower tier, far from the highest per capita allocations in the country.
