Changhua Railway Station Area to Get Two New Parking Lots by Year's End

Residents and commuters in Changhua have long lamented the chronic shortage of parking spaces around the bustling railway station, a problem that has frequently led to traffic congestion and frustration. However, a beacon of hope has emerged with the anticipated opening of two new parking facilities by year's end. The former site of the Hele Theater is being transformed into a much-needed motorcycle parking area, while the space formerly occupied by Taiwan Railways' old dormitories and freight service center will also be developed into a parking lot. These developments are poised to significantly ease the parking woes that have plagued the area, particularly during peak hours and weekends.

The project for the Hele Theater site has faced considerable delays due to complex land ownership issues, with the city government only holding a portion of the land and needing to secure agreements with numerous private owners. Despite multiple failed bids, a revised plan is now in place, and the project is moving towards public tender, with an expected completion by the end of the year. Similarly, the Taiwan Railways site is undergoing demolition, with the subsequent parking lot construction integrated into an expansion plan for the station's south side parking facilities, also targeting a year-end operational launch.
