Charity donates rescue vehicle to enhance New Taipei's remote area capabilities

The Shimen fire station in New Taipei City, Taiwan, has received a significant boost to its emergency response capabilities with the donation of a new disaster reconnaissance vehicle. The vehicle, equipped with advanced communication systems, was provided by the civilian charity Yongxu Hope Project Charity Association.

Located on the remote northern coast, the Shimen district presents unique rescue challenges. Its long, narrow geography spans both mountainous and coastal regions, requiring specialized vehicles for swift and effective disaster response. The Shimen station's existing vehicles have been particularly susceptible to corrosion from sea air, necessitating frequent maintenance.

Shimen's terrain is narrow and elongated, with both coastal and mountainous rescue needs. Facing diverse disaster challenges, efficient and agile rescue equipment is particularly crucial.

Chen Sheng-chao, Director-General of the New Taipei City Fire Department, highlighted the importance of agile rescue equipment in addressing diverse disaster scenarios in the area. He credited former director Li Ching-an for facilitating the connection with the Yongxu Hope Project Charity Association, which previously donated a similar vehicle to the Gongliao station last year.

Lin Deng-gang, captain of the Sixth Rescue and Firefighting Brigade, expressed gratitude for the civilian support. He noted the new vehicle's superior mobility and performance, along with its professional communication equipment. This will enable first responders to quickly reach disaster sites, accurately assess situations, and efficiently manage command, intelligence, and resource allocation, thereby significantly improving disaster prevention and rescue effectiveness in the region.
