Search for person in Ötztaler Ache river ends without success

An extensive search operation was conducted in Tyrol, Austria, after passersby reported seeing a lifeless person in the Ötztaler Ache river. The incident prompted a large-scale mobilization of emergency services on Monday.

The search focused on the Ötztaler Ache river and its surroundings. Involved in the operation were fire departments from Oetz, Sautens, Ötztal Bahnhof, Silz, and Rietz. They were supported by water rescue teams, multiple police patrols, a drone, and a police helicopter.

Despite the significant resources deployed and the thoroughness of the search, authorities were unable to find any trace of the reported individual. The operation was provisionally called off around 5:45 PM after yielding no results.

The initial report came from concerned citizens who spotted what they believed to be a person in distress in the river near Silz in the Imst district. The outcome of the search leaves the situation of the reported individual unresolved.
