ChatGPT Lifts Free User Limits, Enhances Models

OpenAI is making significant adjustments to its ChatGPT service, notably removing the text conversation limits for users on the free and Go plans. This change means users will no longer have to worry about hitting usage caps during text-based interactions, although limits will still apply to features like file uploads and image generation.

Furthermore, OpenAI is introducing a "Think" button for free and Go users. This feature aims to enable higher-level reasoning capabilities when users encounter more complex questions. The underlying models are also being upgraded. Free and Go users will see their default model shift from GPT-3.5 Instant to the newer GPT-3.6 Luna starting this week.

Subscribers on the Plus and Pro plans will receive an enhanced version, GPT-3.6 Sol. A key improvement for these users is increased reliability and reduced factual errors, particularly concerning dates, numbers, sources, and rules. GPT-3.6 Sol will also provide more concise answers, omitting extraneous information. Additionally, Plus and Pro users will gain access to a "thinking" slider, allowing them to control the level of computational effort ChatGPT applies to its responses.
