Chelsea signs veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson from Brentford

Chelsea has bolstered its midfield with the acquisition of experienced English international Jordan Henderson, who signed a two-year deal with the London club. Henderson joins from Premier League rival Brentford, having recently had his contract terminated to facilitate the move.

The 36-year-old midfielder expressed his enthusiasm for the transfer, citing the club's stature, the manager's quality, and the caliber of players as key factors in his decision. "Given the size of the club, the manager, for whom I have great admiration, and the quality of the players, this was a great opportunity that I could not pass up," Henderson stated.

Henderson brings a wealth of experience to Chelsea, including Premier League and Champions League titles won during his tenure at Liverpool. He previously moved to Saudi club Al-Ettifaq in 2023, followed by a brief stint at Ajax, before returning to the Premier League with Brentford last year on a two-year contract.

Despite being part of England's squad for the 2026 World Cup, Henderson saw limited playing time and suffered an arm fracture during the tournament. His arrival at Stamford Bridge follows closely on the heels of Chelsea's recent signing of veteran attacker Danny Welbeck. The club has also made significant investments this transfer window, including a British record fee for Morgan Rogers and the signings of defender Maxence Lacroix and Marco Palestra. Chelsea finished tenth in the Premier League last season, failing to secure European competition qualification.
