Cheongju City Councilor's Phone Forensics Underway for Sex Trafficking Evidence

Police are intensifying their investigation into Cheongju City Councilor Choi Young-joong, focusing on digital evidence to substantiate allegations of sexual trafficking and exploitation. Authorities have seized Choi's personal mobile phone and computer, which are currently undergoing digital forensic analysis.

The investigation centers on claims that Choi engaged in sexual trafficking with a middle school student and demanded the creation of sexually exploitative content. Detectives are meticulously examining the recovered data for any traces of these alleged activities. They are also exploring the possibility that Choi may have attempted to delete incriminating information before the police seizure.

We are conducting forensic work on all content of the seized mobile phones, excluding irrelevant information. We plan to determine whether criminal information was deleted and if additional crimes were committed.

A police official stated that the forensic examination covers all data on the seized devices, excluding irrelevant content. The goal is to identify any evidence related to the alleged crimes and to ascertain whether Choi committed additional offenses. The results of the forensic analysis are expected within a week, after which Choi will be summoned for questioning. The ruling People Power Party's North Chungcheong Provincial Chapter has already moved to expel Choi from the party following an emergency ethics committee meeting.
