Chiayi Candidate Proposes Upgraded Local Revitalization Focused on Regional Industry

Wu Pin-jui, a candidate for Chiayi County Magistrate, has put forth a vision for enhancing local revitalization initiatives. She argues for a strategic shift from focusing on isolated projects to fostering comprehensive regional industrial development.

Wu's proposal emphasizes a thorough assessment of each township's cultural assets, agricultural products, tourism potential, crafts, and underutilized spaces. The goal is to connect local talent, brands, distribution channels, and markets, thereby creating distinctive local industries. "Revitalizing industries and prospering Chiayi, retaining youth and creating the future, cannot rely solely on attracting large industries; we must also amplify the unique features of Chiayi's 18 townships," Wu stated.

She believes that the key to encouraging young people to stay in Chiayi lies in providing job opportunities, platforms for growth, and a clear vision for future development. Wu intends to integrate local revitalization, youth entrepreneurship, and industrial policies to empower young individuals to leverage their expertise and create market value from Chiayi's local characteristics.

Wu highlighted the success of the Puzi City Mayor's office in transforming the third floor of the Puzi First Market into a local revitalization space. This project, she noted, demonstrates how local cultural heritage can be translated into industrial opportunities.
