Chiayi County Expands YouBike 2.0 System with 15 New Stations

Chiayi County in Taiwan is enhancing its public transportation network with the expansion of its YouBike 2.0 public bicycle system. The county government has launched 15 new docking stations across five townships: Zhuqi, Yizhu, Xikou, Lucao, and Liujiao. This initiative follows the earlier introduction of YouBike 2.0 services in six other townships, including Xinshang, Dalin, Meishan, Fanlu, Dongshi, and Budai.

The newly activated stations are strategically located to serve local communities and facilities. In Zhuqi Township, stations are situated at Zhuqi High School and the township office. Yizhu Township has stations at its township office and train station. Xikou Township's new sites include intersections, a junior high school, a community activity center, and a Hakka cultural museum. Lucao Township stations are placed at the township office, elementary schools, and local temples, while Liujiao Township stations are located at its township office and elementary schools.

With this latest rollout, Chiayi County is on track to complete the construction of 110 YouBike 2.0 stations by the end of 2026, providing more convenient access to sustainable transportation for residents. The YouBike 2.0 system has already seen significant adoption, surpassing 1.83 million user trips and serving as a vital tool for promoting low-carbon and sustainable living.

To encourage usage, YouBike 2.0 offers the first 30 minutes of rental free of charge. Additionally, the electric YouBike 2.0E provides a discounted rate of NT$10 for the first 30 minutes. The county government plans to continue expanding the service to other townships and adding more stations in the future.
