Chief prosecutor to lead 'Number One Group' after searching legislator's office

Taipei District Prosecutors Office Chief Prosecutor Tseng Yang-ling led a search of the legislative research office of Kuomintang legislator Chen Hsueh-sheng on Tuesday. The search is part of an investigation into allegations that Chen Hsueh-sheng used business-hired assistants and engaged in lobbying activities on behalf of companies.

Tseng Yang-ling, a graduate of the 47th class of the Judicial Officers Training Program and holding a master's degree in law from Taipei University, has a distinguished career. He previously served as a prosecutor in Taitung, Banqiao, and Taipei, and as a chief prosecutor in Shilin and Taipei District Prosecutors Offices. He is currently the chief prosecutor of the "Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Group" (Group Ji) at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office.

His upcoming role, starting August 26, will see him head the "Number One Group" (Group Zhong) within the anti-corruption unit. Tseng has been a key figure in several significant cases. He was involved in the "San Chung Case" concerning former President Ma Ying-jeou and led the investigation into legislator Kao Chin Su-mei for alleged corruption, which resulted in a request for a 12-year, 6-month sentence. He also spearheaded the investigation into the "Taipei Metro random murder case" and successfully rescued 58 victims from a "Cambodian-style" scam operation, earning him the Outstanding Contribution Award for Public Servants.

Tseng Yang-ling, known for his sunny disposition, is married to Lin Yen-chun, who is also referred to as the "flower of the Taipei District Prosecutors Office." She has been appointed as the deputy chief prosecutor and group chief at the same office, making them a notable couple within the judiciary.
