Children honor late politician with community sanitation drive in Ogun market

The children of the late Ogun State politician Aina Taiwo chose a unique way to commemorate their father: a community sanitation exercise and flash mob at Lusada Market in Igbesa, Ogun State. Partnering with DLAP Academy, the family transformed a conventional memorial into a community-focused initiative.

This decision stemmed from their father's deep commitment to grassroots development and his strong connections within the community. "Our father believed that leadership is measured by service to others. We are honoring him by doing something that benefits the community he loved," the family stated in a joint release. "His legacy is not only in our memories but in every positive action inspired by his life."

The event saw volunteers, youth leaders, traders, and residents participate in cleaning sections of the market while raising awareness about environmental sanitation. DLAP Academy and BADAGRY BOIZ also performed a flash mob, using dance and creative performances to engage the public and promote civic responsibility.

Aina Taiwo, who began his political career in Igbesa as a councilor, was known for his extensive involvement beyond public office. He engaged in commercial activities and actively supported traders and families in the area. Associates remembered him as a grassroots politician who maintained close ties with residents, offering mentorship and personal assistance.

The family organized the outreach to mirror this aspect of his life and provide young people with an opportunity for direct community benefit. DLAP Academy, a youth organization focused on leadership and community service, highlighted the event as an example of youth contribution to development.
