Children's Day celebration closes 2026 Children's Olympics

The Nihon Gakko school recently concluded its vibrant 2026 Children's Olympics, an event that blended athletic competition with cultural celebration and coincided with festivities for Children's Day. The closing ceremony marked significant milestones, including the school's 33rd anniversary, the 90th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Paraguay, and 107 years of enduring friendship between Paraguay and Japan.

Students from the Primary and Secondary cycles, as well as the Initial Level, enthusiastically participated in a wide array of disciplines. These included futsal, handball, mixed volleyball, karate, Paraguayan and international dance, music, and artistic expressions. The theme for this year's competition was 'Olympics of Colors 2026,' with different grades representing various colors as they competed.

Each grade level, from Maternal/Pre-Kindergarten to Sixth Grade, proudly represented their assigned colors, showcasing impressive choreography and spirited athletic performances. The event underscored the students' dedication and effort as they vied for victory in their respective disciplines. Beyond the competitions, the students also presented their 'queens,' leading to the election of the Children's Queen.

The successful organization of the event was a collaborative effort, coordinated by the school's directors, including Dr. Dionisio Ortega and coordinator Professor Rubén Zacarías. The closing ceremony concluded with the awarding of prizes to the winners, celebrating the achievements and participation of all the young athletes.
