Chile's Katherinne Wollermann wins third world Para canoe championship title

Katherinne Wollermann has once again made national sports history, clinching her third consecutive world Para canoe championship title. The Chilean athlete dominated the KL1 200 meters category in Poznan, Poland, crossing the finish line with a time of 52.23 seconds.

Her victory places her ahead of China's Maosan Xie, who took bronze, and Canada's Brianna Hennessy. Wollermann's performance solidifies her status as an international leader in Para canoeing. This latest triumph follows her previous world championship wins in Szeged in 2024 and Milan in 2025.

"It was a very exciting and difficult race. We took gold. It is very important for me, it is my third world gold. I am very grateful to the technical and medical staff. I dedicate this to my family and all of Chile, who are the greatest," Wollermann stated after her win. She also noted her Olympic success in Paris 2024.

In another event, Franco Gutiérrez advanced to the final of the KL2 200 meters by winning his semifinal heat, showcasing further success for the Chilean Para canoe team.
