Chilean Foreign Minister begins Asia tour focused on investment and trade

Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna is commencing a significant tour across Asia, visiting China, Vietnam, and Japan. The primary objective of this diplomatic and economic mission is to cultivate new investment opportunities, broaden Chile's export base, and identify novel avenues for international cooperation.

"We are going with an agenda that seeks to generate new opportunities to boost investments, further expand our export basket, open ourselves to new markets, and find new areas of cooperation," the minister stated. This initiative underscores Chile's commitment to strengthening its global economic ties and diversifying its trade relationships.

The tour begins in China, Chile's most crucial trading partner. Pérez Mackenna is scheduled to visit Beijing and Shanghai, where he will engage in high-level discussions with prominent figures including Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Vice Premier He Lifeng, Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun, and Vice Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission Zhou Haibing. These meetings are expected to address bilateral economic strategies and potential collaborative projects.

Furthermore, the minister will meet with business leaders in China to promote the "Choose Chile" program, an initiative designed to attract foreign investment. The program highlights Chile's stable economic environment and strategic advantages for international companies looking to expand into Latin America. The itinerary also includes engagements in Vietnam and Japan, signaling a broad regional focus for Chile's foreign economic policy.
