Chilean water skiers achieve double podium at World Series in Calgary

Chilean water skiers Matías González and Martín Labra have once again showcased their world-class talent, achieving a double podium finish at the World Series of Water Skiing 2026 in Calgary, Canada. Competing in the figures discipline, both athletes delivered impressive performances to secure silver and bronze medals.

González, who is the reigning open world champion, scored 12.790 points in the figures event. He was narrowly outscored by former world champion Jake Abelson of the USA, who took the gold medal with a score of 12.820. For González, this silver medal marks his fourth podium finish of the season, having previously won gold in Australia and the United States, and silver in Italy.

Martín Labra also made his mark in Calgary, becoming the first finalist to surpass 12,000 points. He ultimately secured the bronze medal with a score of 12.210. This is Labra's second medal of the 2026 season, following a bronze he won in the United States earlier in the year. Both accomplished skiers are now set to represent Chile at the upcoming 2026 South American Games in Santa Fe.
