China condemns Pakistan train attack, offers counter-terror support

China has issued a strong condemnation of a terrorist attack targeting a passenger train in Pakistan's western Balochistan province, which resulted in the deaths of at least 30 individuals. The Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed solidarity with the victims, injured, and families of those killed.

"China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and will continue to support Pakistan in its fight against terrorism, in maintaining social unity and stability, and in protecting the safety of the population," stated Mao Ning, a spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, during a press conference. The ministry also conveyed its readiness to enhance bilateral counter-terrorism cooperation.

The attack was claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and occurred near the Chaman Phatak level crossing in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. This region, located approximately 125 kilometers from the Afghan border, has been the site of a decades-long separatist insurgency against the Pakistani central government. The province is Pakistan's largest but least developed.

This condemnation comes at a significant diplomatic moment, coinciding with the start of a four-day official visit to China by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday.
