China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway’s highest bridge to be built in Suzak

The highest bridge on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is being built in Kyrgyzstan’s Suzak district, across the Koch-Alat River. Uzbekistan’s Transport Ministry press service said the structure will become the tallest bridge along the planned international railway route.

The bridge will stretch 956.67 meters. Its highest pier will stand 96 meters high, while the full structure will reach 122 meters. The ministry described it as one of the largest engineering structures on the new railway line.

Foundation work has been completed. Construction crews are continuing to erect the bridge’s piers and supports. The work is considered one of the technically most difficult stages of the railway project because the route must cross areas with challenging terrain.

Construction of the railway officially began in December 2024. The Kyrgyz section will run along the Torugart-Makmal-Jalal-Abad route and is intended to connect China’s and Uzbekistan’s railway networks.
