China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway to get route’s highest bridge in Suzak

The highest bridge on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is being built in Kyrgyzstan’s Suzak district, in the Jalal-Abad region. The project forms part of the international railway route linking the three countries.

The bridge will cross the Kech-Alat River and extend 956.67 meters. Its tallest pier will reach 96 meters, while the structure’s total height will be 122 meters. The Uzbek Transport Ministry’s press service described it as the highest bridge along the railway under construction.

The bridge is one of the route’s largest engineering structures. Foundation work has been completed, and crews are continuing to build the piers and abutments.

The report describes such structures as among the technically difficult stages of the railway project, which requires bridge infrastructure across areas with challenging terrain. Construction of the railway officially began in December 2024. The Kyrgyz section will run from Torugart through Makmal to Jalal-Abad, connecting China’s and Uzbekistan’s railway networks.
